Individual & Family Hygiene Kits

Love Waterford has proudly partnered with two remarkable organizations through this event in the past: Love Stanislaus County’s Kids Program and Without Permission.

Love Stanislaus County Kids Program is dedicated to ensuring that children throughout Stanislaus County feel seen, valued, and loved. Their primary focus is supporting children in foster care and educating the community on how to better support these youth and their resource parents. One of the key ways they live out their mission is through their annual countywide Comfort Kit Drive. Every year, hundreds of children enter foster care—often with little more than the clothes they’re wearing. Comfort Kits are given to children on the night they are removed from their homes, offering both practical essentials and comforting items that provide stability during a life-changing moment.

Without Permission works to confront the culture that enables sex trafficking and to support those affected by it. Through partnerships in the Central Valley and beyond, they serve at-risk youth and help restore victims. One of their outreach efforts includes providing Bags of Compassion—care packages filled with items of comfort and dignity. These bags are often delivered directly to individuals currently being victimized, reminding them that they are not forgotten and that help and hope are available.

Over the years, Love Waterford has partnered with both organizations to assemble and deliver these meaningful kits—Comfort Kits for children in foster care and Bags of Compassion for survivors of human trafficking. Together, these efforts ensure that some of our community’s most vulnerable youth experience love, dignity, and tangible support when they need it most.

A BACKPACK FULL OF LOVE

What goes into a Bag of Compassion?

Feminine Products

With around 30% of human trafficking victims being male, not all of our Bags of Compassion are designed for women. However, for those who are, we include feminine hygiene products to help meet essential personal care needs with dignity and respect. These items show that we see each individual’s humanity and care about their comfort in recovery.e for females,  but those we do have feminie products to help meet their basic needs..

Water Bottle

A reusable bottle represents both practicality and care. It provides access to clean hydration—something often overlooked but vital for wellbeing—and serves as a reminder that sustainability and self-care can go hand in hand.

Personal Care

Simple hygiene items—like deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, Lysol wipes, a hairbrush and accessories, and even a face mask—offer comfort and help restore a sense of normalcy. These everyday products communicate a message of worth and compassion, showing that someone took time to think of their wellbeing.

Stationary

Each bag includes adult coloring books, colored pens, and blank cards to encourage self-expression and healing. Creative activities can calm the mind, relieve stress, and help survivors begin to process their experiences in a healthy and hopeful way.

Blanket

A blanket is more than a practical item—it’s a symbol of safety and care. It offers warmth, softness, and a sense of security to those who may have gone without comfort for a long time.

Bath Products

The shower kit—complete with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, and a loofah—allows survivors to feel clean and refreshed. This small act of care can have a powerful emotional impact, helping to rebuild self-esteem and support the process of healing and renewal.

A BAG BUILT TO MEET NEEDS

What goes into a Hygiene Kit?

Personal hygiene kits are given to WUSD to distribute to children in need. We also pack family hygiene boxes that contain multiple full sized items to meet the needs of an entire family that is experiencing homelessness or financial insecurity.

Shower Products

A way to clean up at home, when home is lacking the products needed.

Hand/Body Wipes

Not every child has access to a shower at home every day. That's why we include products to clean up on the go.

Tooth Care

Poor oral health an impact attendance and academic performance. We include a toothbrush and full sized toothpaste in every kit.

Chapstick

This small item makes a big difference in a child's life after they've been battling chapped and bleeding lips.

Deodorant

Students are normally referred to the nurse or counselor due to body odor, so a full sized deodorant is a MUST in our hygiene kits.

Feminine Hygiene Products

Providing basic hygiene products means students have everything needed, and don't have to fear the flow every month.
